Locations Fix - let's go outside in the sunshine

Posted on 12th August 2014 by FilmFixer

Make the best of summer light and lush London parks for filming in the last weeks of August. It won’t last much longer. The good news is there’s a lot of space to choose from. Here are just a few suggestions.

Highbury Fields
Islington’s largest green space is quite central and loaded with period charm.

Just over 11 hectares big, it opened as a public park in 1855.

It’s criss-crossed by avenues lined with plane trees, lit from cast iron lampposts, and flanked by Victorian and Georgian terraces.

ITV’s gripping drama Lucan was filmed in Highbury Terrace, as was the well-loved Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Take a look here at its many other features.

Danson Park
Danson House in Bexley is a sumptuous, fully restored Georgian villa – inside a fittingly grand park. The lake alone – at 7.8 hectares – is one of our favourite wet locations. Fishing, boating and sailing are all welcomed and boats are available for hire

There is an area of hard standing for parking which can accommodate a large number of vehicles.

Fairlop Waters
For sweeping meadows, windsurfing, sailing and the UK’s largest boulder park – all beside an underground station – head to Fairlop Waters in Redbridge.

Just thirty minutes’ drive from central London – but with all the wide open space of a country park.

There’s also a floodlit driving range, fishing and function halls to hire.
